Construction Site Prora – The Plans
An exhibition by the Documentation Centre Prora.
It presents original plans, documents, and photographs, some shown for the first time.
Historical materials from the construction period are shown together with current photographs of Prora.
From Prora Beyond the Front Lines –
Forgotten Victims of German Police Battalions
This exhibition is part of the permanent exhibition since 2018.
It tells the story of police battalions trained in Prora and later deployed in occupied European countries.
The focus is on the victims, especially Soviet prisoners of war, who are still largely forgotten today.
Photographs, documents, films, and personal testimonies give insight into their experiences.
Military Site Prora –
Opposition and Resistance: Construction Soldiers 1964–1989/90
The exhibition presents the history of construction soldiers in the GDR.
They refused armed service and were stationed in Prora as part of the National People’s Army.
Photos, texts, objects, and audio and video interviews tell their story and explain their role in GDR history.
Hidden. Dealing with Nazi Perpetrator Sites in Berlin
with a Rügen Perspective
An exhibition about how Germany deals with places connected to Nazi crimes.
It shows debates, conflicts, and changes in remembrance culture before and after 1990.
For Prora, the exhibition includes a special chapter on sites in Rügen with a Nazi past.
Art in Context Sound Installation “Under the Surface”
Artist Lisa Marie Steude presents a sound installation in the Documentation Centre Prora.
The work focuses on empathy, democracy, and social cohesion.
It connects the historical exhibition with current social questions.
